The message comes by carrier pigeon actually, which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. A very pretty looking brown pigeon swoops down out of the sky to wherever Sara and Yuna just so happen to be that afternoon and holds out its leg.
The message Sara receives is short and simple:
Got a job for you. Meet me in front of the Saloon this evening. No show, no job. Keep it a secret, rewarded very well.

On the other hand, Yuna receives:
Picked you for a role. You said you wanted to help, this is one of the roles capable of ending the game earlier. Let's see what you do with it. Meet me in front of the Saloon this evening if you accept.

And that's it. Of course, if they both choose to listen to their messages, they'll find the Sheriff in front of the Saloon at dusk. They'll be greeted with a tip of his hat and a question:
"Y'all like talking to people, right?"
And then he holds out two small notebooks. Looks like they've been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
but for now she takes one big deep breath, settling, and she says, as serious as she's ever been:] I'm sure. [She brings her hand to her heart.] I meant it when I said I knew for sure he wanted to help. Besides that, he named Milla, and I'd trust her with anything in the whole world. I'm sure he was telling the truth.
I didn't get to talk to anyone else yet. I came to you first.
[ Sara's holding onto those shoulders for a few more seconds, just to make sure the explosion risk has died down, before she draws her hands back and closes her eyes briefly to think through this.
The pragmatic part of her, who's spent so much of her life in battle, doesn't want to take this at face-value. If he knows both of their identities, that's a bigger risk.
But the part of Sara who was a bracer and an instructor, who had learned about trust and reliability in order to teach that sort of thing to the younger generation...
She sighs. Well, they've gotten next to nowhere on their own power, and at this rate, they're not going to be able to end the game on their own terms. ]
[Yuna knows it's hard to take her seriously. It's a little intentional; if she purposely acts flighty and ditzy, people will see her as a friend and not a threat. They'll talk to her, let her talk to them, let her support them in subtle ways and stand by them. When she says if you're troubled, talk to someone she can be hat someone. It's harder to find the balance here, when she needs to prove herself reliable without being so sturdy as to turn anyone away.
Sara takes her seriously. Trusts her, agrees with her.]

I think it might be better if we can get everyone together in one place sometime—Robin named Milla and Noctis, and he said Percy and Jason were helping, too. Is it okay if I talk to them about you, too?

[ Milla and Noctis were both people she trusted-- and Percy was a given. Jason she doesn't know as well, but she's pretty sure he's a good kid.

Robin is the Bounty Leader. He knew what all of the roles were for and who had them except for us. There are two other Bounties, Milla and Noctis, and one who died, and one more that Robin said Mister Sheriff would tell him about. Jason and Percy don't have roles, but they're helping.
There's the Doctor, too, and Robin couldn't tell me who she was, but it's her job to give us items based on some that Mister Sheriff suggests to her. I guess...she can revive one person, too? [She sounds a little confused?? But okay.]
The other role is the Deputy. [And Yuna's expression sours a little here, just so.] When Mister Sheriff said that there was a role that could end the game, he meant that one. But...it only works if Robin kills them, because Robin is the Bounty Leader. [AND SHE REALLY DOESN'T LIKE THAT] He said they're trying to find another way.
The Deputy gets the option to put someone in the stocks and put them at risk, or put them in jail and protect them every week. [AND SHE DOESN'T LIKE THAT EITHER!!!] Robin thinks maybe they got a hint about who the Bounty Leader is and that they were told it's someone young... [OTHER THINGS SHE DOESN'T LIKE?!?!?!]
[ ... that is a lot. So there was a role who knew all of the roles, except for theirs, and a Doctor and Deputy that she and Yuna don't know about. And the Deputy is someone young, which honestly doesn't narrow it down all that much.
Hm.
Sara's slowly nodding for now, committing it to memory. ]
That's going to be rough, going forward, if the Deputy gets killed by someone else before they can find a way.
