The message comes by carrier pigeon actually, which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. A very pretty looking brown pigeon swoops down out of the sky to wherever Sara and Yuna just so happen to be that afternoon and holds out its leg.
The message Sara receives is short and simple:
Got a job for you. Meet me in front of the Saloon this evening. No show, no job. Keep it a secret, rewarded very well.
- Hal
P.S. Burn this.
On the other hand, Yuna receives:
Picked you for a role. You said you wanted to help, this is one of the roles capable of ending the game earlier. Let's see what you do with it. Meet me in front of the Saloon this evening if you accept.
- Sheriff
P.S. Please burn this. Thanks.
And that's it. Of course, if they both choose to listen to their messages, they'll find the Sheriff in front of the Saloon at dusk. They'll be greeted with a tip of his hat and a question:
"Y'all like talking to people, right?"
And then he holds out two small notebooks. Looks like they've been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
[ Just a nod of affirmation there. Yep, Sara's got a pretty good handle on it.
But to her question -- ]
No. You're the only role that can actively reveal a role. People only get found out two ways here, if they die or if you expose 'em. 'Course they can also just expose themselves but that ain't the point of this. I'd have to advise them not to.
Miss Valestein, did you hear that?! [yeah she did yuna she's Right There] Mister Sheriff, if there's a way for all of the roles to end the game early, is that our only way? By finding those other two roles, or finding any of the other roles and finding out their ways? Aaah, Miss Valestine, we're investigators!
[ It's a good thing Sara is so very used to dealing with overly enthusiastic young girls, so she's just nodding and smiling. ]
Remember, Yuna-- we're going to have to be secretive about this. And maybe finding a way to meet up with Sheriff--
[ A dog yips majestically from somewhere nearby. It's very impressive. She is the Empress of Chihuahuas, and her battle roar will not be denied so Sara will respectfully let it drown her out before she continues. ]
[ The Sheriff's just going to give a grin at the enthusiasm there. He'll thumb to the Saloon behind him and give a nod for them to follow as he turns to go inside. ]
Great thing 'bout a place like this, no one ever usually finds ya unless you want 'em too. So, c'mon ladies, there's a nice room upstairs we can talk in if you'd like.
[ And if they follow him, it'll be obvious a moment after, he's leading them to one of the rooms upstairs. ]
[Immediately dropping her voice:] Got it! [she can keep a secret it's fine it's fiiiiine!!! And she does follow along at the invitation, though she sticks close to Sara, because she has some measure of Stranger Danger.]
[ There's just a snort of amusement at Sara's words and the Sheriff continues up the stairs and room three, turning open the knob and revealing the room to them.
This room isn't one of the ones for an overnight stay but instead one that functions for meetings. The lights are dimmer, there's a few plush couches around, and in the middle is a round card table with a stack of cards and chips sitting pleasantly on top. There's a small bar over in the corner with some of the same supply downstairs and some cigars even and the Sheriff heads for that to grab one of them. He'll gesture for the ladies to enter the room proper as he pulls out a lighter and bites the end of the cigar off. ]
Take a seat, make yourselves comfortable. I'm sure I could find some juice for Miss Yuna there if you'd like.
[Yuna's careful to wait for Sara to sit before she does, taking a seat next to her, and she does glance over to her first when she's offered the juice, and assuming there isn't any sign of an objection, Yuna chirps:] I'd like that, thank you!
[She's idly swinging her feet while she sits.] Sorry to ask again, but I wanna be sure... Is our only way to end the game early to find those other roles?
[ Sara will still be watching this guy like a hawk, but she's also procuring a beer bottle before she settles onto the couch (leaving plenty of room for Yuna, of course). She doesn't say anything else for now, still thinking through this whole thing, but she'll be listening. ]
[ The Sheriff just fusses at the bar before pulling out a nice old glass of orange juice. He'll walk over to hand it to Yuna before plopping down himself in a seat nearby. ]
Yup. Only two roles have the ability to, but they got their own problems to deal with too. You girls deal with information and figuring out the best way to use it. You'll probably end up with more information about what's going on around here more than the others, considering.

For now, she's just following and consciously making sure Yuna does stay behind her. ]
I gotta say, I approve of the location.
[ Of course she does. ]
