The message comes by carrier pigeon actually, which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. A very pretty looking brown pigeon swoops down out of the sky to wherever Milla just so happens to be that afternoon and holds out its leg. The message is short and simple:
Got a job for you. Meet me at the farm at dusk. No show, no job. Keep it a secret, rewarded very well.
- Hal
P.S. Burn this.
And that's it. Of course, if Milla chooses to listen to the message, she will find the Sheriff at the farm at dusk, chewing a piece of tobacco and watching the sun set. She'll be greeted with a tip of his hat and one word:
"Bounty."
And then he holds out a small notebook. Looks like Milla's been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
[ This just makes him snort and he digs into his pocket to pull out a matchbook. He tosses it to her a moment later. ]
Swipe one of those sticks on the little brown part, should light up. And reward's based on what you want. Could get you an object or whatever, like some clothes. Could also, I dunno, change your past or something. Up to you.
[fumbles the matches in her hand, her neutral expression turning surprised for the briefest of moments. it takes her a few tries, but she manages to light a match, her expression brightening just as much as the flame does at the end of the stick]
Oh! How interesting!
[and then she drops the letter from earlier and the bounty notebook on the ground and lights them on fire. these are two things she doesn't want to be caught with]
I'm not tempted by material possessions. What I'm most interested in doing is ending this game with as few casualties as possible. And from what I can see of the role you gave me, a "bounty" is in a very good position to do that.
You said earlier that the final survivor of the game would get to determine the fate of its participants. Does this hold true if the lead bounty finds and kills that certain role?
Fair enough. Bounty sure is a good way to do it, if you're careful enough and talk just the right way. I got faith in you to do that though so, here's hoping.
[ He nods at the second question though. ]
Yep. Leader finds other one, kills 'em, gets away with it. Then it's all their decision to make. Much easier to do if they've found the rest of y'all first though, won't end up killing their own crew. Had that happen once, not pretty.
[WELP HER STRATEGY IS SET. keep her head down, don't lash out at anyone unless someone tries to kill her or it's absolutely necessary to do so, and protect as many others as she can while searching for the bounty leader. though she's also a bit visibly surprised at the faith the Sheriff expresses in her abilities when he barely knows her]
[a nod]
Thank you for answering my questions. Words have never been my strong point, but I intend to do my best.
[now to hope that the lead bounty is as eager to rescue those who die during the game as she is]
