The message comes by carrier pigeon actually, which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. A very pretty looking brown pigeon swoops down out of the sky to wherever Damian just so happens to be that afternoon and holds out its leg. The message is short and simple:
Got a job for you. Meet me at the farm at dusk. No show, no job. Keep it a secret, rewarded very well.
- Hal
P.S. Burn this.
And that's it. Of course, if Damian chooses to listen to the message, he will find the Sheriff at the farm at dusk, chewing a piece of tobacco and watching the sun set. He'll be greeted with a tip of his hat and one word:
"Bounty."
And then he holds out a small notebook. Looks like Damian's been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
You can have those three. Noctis is being taken care of. Ash, too. Which reminds me --
[ A smile here. ]
On Friday, Zacharias has asked me to extend an offer to duel with you. It will be the three of you left and if you're to leave Percy as the last one, he does not want to harm you himself. So, a duel is the most honorable course for him.
A hint. There's something you don't know, not about the game but about the town. Barnham does and it's why he's been picking people off. What do you think it is? You're smart enough to gather, you have the clues to see it.
[It's real, but there's a catch about leaving. His eyes lift as he considers what he knows of Barnham. What question would Barnham ask to get the answer to this?
Why is Barnham leaving Percy?] We have to die to leave? Dying is the price of the ticket to get on the train?
Or we have to kill to leave. Is that how you convinced the others to kill so willingly?
I did. Game is different than the town. Play the game to a resolution, still in the town. To leave the town, you have to get on the train. To get on the train, you have to die. Percy knows now too, he's resolved to being the last one and considering the amount of merit he possess, that's a good idea.
[ And then he considers before nodding. ]
Papika went into the cinema, came out convinced she had to kill herself. She wasn't wrong.
[Poor... Papika... And he hasn't even bothered to talk to her about it because he's got a giant Wayne stick up his fucking ass about Feelings and Talking and Emotions.
Hero Tenet 4: If you're troubled, talk to someone! He's already fucked up.] Give me your word.
Give me your word that when they die, they go onto the train.
Decor. They'll cease to exist at the end of the game, just like everything here. Energy will be reused to make a new round next time. I think something beach-y, probably.
[ A shrug. ]
Unless you wanna take one home? All the pets that came with folk are gonna end up on the train before we pull out, so it's not like you're leaving your cat here or anything.

Is he the one who is killing those two?

[ And then a pause, and you know what -- ]
Would you like your hint this week?

What hints?

The town doesn't exist. None of this is real.

It's perfectly real. There's just a catch, about how you leave it.

The first one. Even if you resolved yourselves to no killing, I would've told you that a group suicide was the only way out.

[FUCK. YOU PIECE OF SHIT, ROBOT. Damian's fists are tight, but... it's fine. IT'S FINE. It's fine. It's fine.
He's ending it. He knew this, mostly. He's ending this to help them.
Father will never forgive him.] Is that what the bodies were for? A hint?

I want Jackson to remain alive. Any left-over merit I have, I want transferred to Jackson on my death.

Granted. A good ending to a good round, I think. You've been a good player, Damian.

What about the animals?

please put felix the chicken in tikirobo
[For a moment, he thinks about the horse. She's beautiful, but... decor. Animals aren't just decor.] The chicken.
I want the chicken Maxwell named after Walken. I want it to be given to her.
ok
Alright, sure. Why not, right?

Still would be pointless though.
