The message comes by carrier pigeon actually, which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. A very pretty looking brown pigeon swoops down out of the sky to wherever Damian just so happens to be that afternoon and holds out its leg. The message is short and simple:
Got a job for you. Meet me at the farm at dusk. No show, no job. Keep it a secret, rewarded very well.
- Hal
P.S. Burn this.
And that's it. Of course, if Damian chooses to listen to the message, he will find the Sheriff at the farm at dusk, chewing a piece of tobacco and watching the sun set. He'll be greeted with a tip of his hat and one word:
"Bounty."
And then he holds out a small notebook. Looks like Damian's been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
Fine. [Likely, he can try to come up with a way to bend the rules, but he's too Tired and has no patience for haggling. He'll just have to keep Yuna from being useless.
So, instead, he takes a moment to consider more options. How far can he push?] I want you to tell me the purposes of the six unnamed stores boarded up in town.

What's the reward?

Oh, eh. Whatever, I suppose. You've put in a lot of work. Anything you want, really 'cept anything that breaks the game.

For my reward, I want you to not get rid of Yuna Yuki.
no subject
Can't do that. Breaks a rule of the game.

Alright. Three are storage, one's broadcasting, then the other two are communications and record keeping.

We're going to open them.
[You know... just... a forewarning so the Sheriff can prepare to laugh a lot.]

I'm sure you are.
