GRAVEYARD

So, you're dead. Shame, that.

But on the other hand, it's actually kind of nice.

When you "wake" in some odd version of it, you'll find yourself lying on a rather plush bed. It's cozy and warm and just soft enough to tempt anyone back into sleep. The room is equally nice, if small, and when you turn and open the curtains to look out the window, you will see... wait, is that the town?

It is, actually. The town is laid out quite simply across the window and no matter how many times you may bang or wave through the window, no one seems to notice you. If you're smart enough to give up the venture and leave the small bedroom, you will notice that, of course, you are on the train.

The train that, is actually pretty fancy.

Moving through it, past the sleeping cabins and through to the main carts, you will find a dining car with fine dishware and meals of all kinds made at a push of a button or a request given to the air. They'll appear, freshly made and ready to eat at the table of your choice with any drink you could want. There truly doesn't seem to be any limits when it comes to the luxury of the meal.

There is also a bathhouse car with private bathrooms and saunas to fit up to four. Even one rather large room containing a small pool/hot tub of sorts is available for just about anyone to take a dip. It's kind of outlandish, honestly.

Then the lounge car, with its library and plush armchairs and couches. A pool table, a darts board, even a small area dedicated to painting. There's a bar too, fully stocked and ready for anyone who needs a drink. All it would require is a request from the bartender who... looks surprisingly familiar?

The Sheriff is there, much cleaner cut than his counterpart outside of the train. He looks up mildly at any arrivals, giving them a nod of greeting before going back to organizing bottles or setting cigars out for a smoke. He doesn't seem to be surprised at all by anyone who appears. Just... ready to serve them, whatever they may wish.

It all sort of seems okay for a moment, until you realize you're just here to wait for the game to end. Awkward.

[ Wow what a pleasant way to be woken from a beauty nap! Not really... At least he didn't leept all that heavily, since it's about that time, isn't it. The train is certainly a bit more noisy, even if the new people aren't so. ]

...!

[ So. The endpoint is the same no matter what, and a tackle has to be involved. Sorry Shinnosuke, you're not getting that groggy waking like Natalie did weeks ago. Higekiri's best stat is "Impulse" for a reason, and he just. Kicks off of the couch to shove them both to the ground as a response. ]
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (checking: no friendship saps in sight)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-25 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
What the hell—!?

[okay he was not expecting that so uh down they both go]
sunnashi: (how does it go)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-25 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's not like they have far to fall at this point I mean... What

is thinking things through, really. But he rolls over, surprisingly alert. ]

This isn't me dreaming anymore... You really did die.
insincerely: ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ. (whatever liezel you loser)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-25 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He sits up, disgruntled. On the bright side, that was less weird than it could've been, if he were still blind.]

Yup. Shot repeatedly to death. It was fun.

[Not.]
sunnashi: (oh that's a bad thing)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-25 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ It would have been funny though! Like the best-worst kind of ambush on a deserving victim. ]

We have to die anyway, so you're just one down and eleven left before it's over.
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (maybe if i creep really hard)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-25 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've heard.

[WHICH KIND OF SUCKS AND THROWS A WRENCH INTO ALL OF HIS ALLIES' PLANS, BUT.

He smiles, however grimly.]

I knew that last paragraph in your letter was bullshit.
sunnashi: (tsukumogami)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-25 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ IT REALLY DOES AND HE FEELS KINDA BAD. They tried So Hard. ]

...A bit. Reading your letter was upsetting, because I know that I probably couldn't stop you. This game is just like that. So I just complained and briefly wished I didn't love my family while writing, if it meant I could reject that promise of a reward that I fell for. Like an idiot.

[ Caring about stuff like that is a pain, maybe they can find solace in that sort of similarity between them. He smiles back at Shinnosuke's grim one. ]

If I knew who found this whole setup entertaining enough for it to exist, I want first pick in cutting their heads off.
insincerely: ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ. (do you want to punch this face yet)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-25 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately, he understands that very well.]

... Ha. I'm pretty sure there's already a line.
sunnashi: (internal affairs)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-26 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I can wait. I just want the head. Or an arm.

[ The cheeriness in dismembering some nonentity justification for this murderhell is punctuated by a sigh. ]

Being here wears me out. Knowing things that you guys don't know... trials not going well...
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (maybe if i creep really hard)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-26 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[He just laughs.]

I'm going to have a lot of fun tomorrow, aren't I?
sunnashi: (relaxed)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-26 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to say it doesn't matter much, knowing what we know.

[ He shrugs. ]

I get the company I wanted though, who'd have something fun to say about it.
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (allow me to give you my informed opinion)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-26 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, about that...

[...]

Did you seriously wish death on me?

[HE NEVER FIGURED OUT WHAT THAT CENSORED PART WAS—]
sunnashi: (how does it go)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-27 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ Wait what. Higekiri actually looks like someone kicked his puppy if he had one like half of Whole Ass did. ]

...I was lonely, but I wrote that I wanted you to live, despite that. Leaving people behind is painful.

[ His death was useless, no two ways about it. In light of recent information about ending the game... Ha ha. Ironic. Really. ]

I guess that's why it was censored. We shouldn't try to live at all.

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-02-27 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeaaaah, that part didn't make it through. Between that and other stuff you wrote, Percy thought you'd caught onto my role.

[Until Shinnosuke reassured him that it was probably just... Higekiri calling him out on being a tsun... (Which was awkward as hell, thanks Higekiri.)

He snorts.]

You really think Mr. Sheriff was trying to do us a favour there? Though it did make me suspicious, but for the wrong reasons—when you then sent Milla a letter suggesting that she join you, I wondered what took you so long to start wishing death on her as well.
sunnashi: (internal affairs)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-03-01 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, the news of how to end this game was a recent announcement, and Hal said that we couldn't tell that to the living. Only Barnham knew, the poor man.

[ Even if he considered him a full-out criminal for being an accomplice to murder... he does feel sorry for justice dad. ]

...With the exception of Milla, those who I wrote to died. It's funny, I couldn't help you, I even said that in the last letter. But I guess I can make people drop dead, because I get what I want, so easily.

[ It's coincidence, right? There are a lot of factors that went into all these deaths, but it makes him relieved. Relieved and he shouldn't be. He doesn't tell Shinnosuke that wish to Milla was pretty serious. He's got a weird, twisted sense of luck that works. But it's also selfish.

The Sheriff just taps the rulebook. "You gonna deprive this guy of his reward just cause you don't wanna help? ... What would you ask for a reward? You'll be granted anything, even the impossible. So, tell him what he's gonna deprive you of."

His wish wasn't even as selfless as Ezio thought, if it was to make him feel better about what he can't do for his family. Serving himself to the end.

Higekiri clutches his chest and laughs. Bitterly, painfully. ]
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (in the end it didn't even matterrrrrrrr)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-03-01 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno if I'd call him poor. He's made his choices, so he's got to suck them up.

[Though sympathy is a sentiment a bit beyond Shinnosuke, both in giving and taking it. It's why he watches Higekiri laugh with passive eyes, not sure how to respond.

All beings are rooted in selfishness. A game like this is simply meant to take advantage of that fact.]

Great, think you can write to Ash next?
sunnashi: (oh that's a bad thing)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-03-01 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Swords try not to be selfish, it doesn't go well because ah, mission first, self later. He probably gets a pass because he's easygoing and his brother gets the brunt of it, who will forgive him always. Taking life easy like an old man has its perks. But his chest aches, because getting away with it and a game encouraging it really does suck.

...Right. He's used to Shinnosuke's callousness, but like that, he can come to a conclusion. Whelp. ]

Ah. I guess he went there.

[ That's still depressing on all counts. Genocide Route Barnhamham. ]

... Hal wouldn't let me grab more letter paper. I think we sent too many for his liking earlier this week.

Um, how were you able to read letters when you were blind?

[ Something stupid bread would only realize now to ask. ]
insincerely: ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ. (that sounds like a very dumb idea)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-03-01 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Barnhamster is definitely going the Genocide Route, apparently. Shinnosuke wishes he'd at least go after someone like Ash first, but it looks like he's being pragmatic and went after easy targets—two handicapped people—first, or so Shinnosuke figures.]

I had other people read them for me, obviously.

[He's not going to mention that one of Higekiri's letters broke his brain, and it was very awkward.]
sunnashi: (tsukumogami)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-03-01 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Oh. Of course. That is obvious, but the confirmation is good... Oh. ]

Would you be willing to tell me about your sister? I resisted asking, because I didn't know if you could write back to me.

[ He's apparently always ready to break Shinnosuke in some way. No mercy. 100% gross? ]
insincerely: ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ. (aggggh get that mic away from me)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-03-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

What do you want to know?
sunnashi: (relaxed)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-03-04 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
How about... what about her makes you smile. Happy memories... Things she likes. A brother should know those things right?

[ Hey bracket ellipses, meet more internal ellipses.

... ]

My reward wasn't for my brother directly, because he wouldn't be happy with such a tainted thing. So, it was for the person who loved him dearly. I had to come up with something that I could not not achieve normally and sounded nice, or else Ezio might have abandoned me to pointlessly kill someone.
insincerely: ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ. (god woman i'm trying to be a jerk here)

[personal profile] insincerely 2017-03-04 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
She liked typical little girl things, though I don't know if you'd know what those are... Flowers, hearts, stars in the sky, tasty food, books I read to her—stuff like that.

[He smiles dryly.]

How manipulative of you.
sunnashi: (he swears he was good)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-03-09 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
...Past tense. You're using past tense.

[ He smiles with a tired look in his eyes. ]

My owner was a shrewd man. I like to think I didn't take after him, but I suppose when we swords were never human, we do that anyway.
