GRAVEYARD

So, you're dead. Shame, that.

But on the other hand, it's actually kind of nice.

When you "wake" in some odd version of it, you'll find yourself lying on a rather plush bed. It's cozy and warm and just soft enough to tempt anyone back into sleep. The room is equally nice, if small, and when you turn and open the curtains to look out the window, you will see... wait, is that the town?

It is, actually. The town is laid out quite simply across the window and no matter how many times you may bang or wave through the window, no one seems to notice you. If you're smart enough to give up the venture and leave the small bedroom, you will notice that, of course, you are on the train.

The train that, is actually pretty fancy.

Moving through it, past the sleeping cabins and through to the main carts, you will find a dining car with fine dishware and meals of all kinds made at a push of a button or a request given to the air. They'll appear, freshly made and ready to eat at the table of your choice with any drink you could want. There truly doesn't seem to be any limits when it comes to the luxury of the meal.

There is also a bathhouse car with private bathrooms and saunas to fit up to four. Even one rather large room containing a small pool/hot tub of sorts is available for just about anyone to take a dip. It's kind of outlandish, honestly.

Then the lounge car, with its library and plush armchairs and couches. A pool table, a darts board, even a small area dedicated to painting. There's a bar too, fully stocked and ready for anyone who needs a drink. All it would require is a request from the bartender who... looks surprisingly familiar?

The Sheriff is there, much cleaner cut than his counterpart outside of the train. He looks up mildly at any arrivals, giving them a nod of greeting before going back to organizing bottles or setting cigars out for a smoke. He doesn't seem to be surprised at all by anyone who appears. Just... ready to serve them, whatever they may wish.

It all sort of seems okay for a moment, until you realize you're just here to wait for the game to end. Awkward.

wow I straight up forgot to do this yesterday go me

[Anyway, he had a shitty week, so... Yeah, you know what, sure?

Sure.

Eliot just gets himself a drink asap and then goes to wander, because honestly what else is he gonna do for now. Maybe he'll throw some darts. Why the hell not.]

[It's a strange feeling, to be both happy and upset at the same time. But that's the only way Lust can define her feelings when she sees Eliot on the train.]

[She can't help but feel some sort of positive feeling. He's the first person that's cared about her, even knowing a fraction of what she was. She likes him. She's missed him, missing talking to him, being in his company.]

[But being here also means he's gone and gotten himself dead. Which is what's at the forefront of her mind when she approaches him. While most of her reunions have been rather restrained things, a polite smile, a touch on the shoulder, a squeeze of a hand...]

...What did I tell you?

[She had just told him not to die. Not even a handful of days ago. She doesn't know whether she wants to hit him or hug him. She settles on a light whack of her hand on his shoulder before going for the latter.]

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah. There she is.

Eliot was waiting to run into her. He figured he wouldn't push it, would just wait until he saw her again, because who knows how she's feeling about anything after being. y'know. murdered and all. It's weird, seeing someone again when you know they're dead. Even if it's because you yourself are also dead.

Like seeing a ghost, except you're actually pretty much literally seeing a ghost.

It's weird. But he smiles a little when she whacks him and a little more after.]

Yeah, I know.

Sorry. Kinda messed that one up.
a_sin_for_him: (are you sure?)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you I didn't want to see you again.

[Even as she hugs him, a bit awkwardly as she isn't terribly familiar with embraces that aren't intended to lead to something more. She's simply...glad to see him, and sorry for whatever he went through, and wrestling with a dozen emotions she doesn't quite understand. She steps back, searching his face for some sign of how he's handling his own demise.]

Are you...alright?
hitsitoff: (052)

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't trying to die, if that makes it any better.

[Eliot's got a good poker face. Always. So he seems... much the same as ever. It doesn't seem like he's taking this hard, anyway. Not like he's taken some things. He wasn't so good at hiding things when he died.

There's some relief here, for getting to see her again. A bit of regret at the circumstances. But maybe not as much regret as there ought to be.]

Eh, I've... Well, can't really say I've had worse, technically. [Because this did... y'know. Kill him.] But close to it.

...Can't say I ever really wondered what a shovel in the gut feels like, but I guess now I know.

[...Does it count as insensitive when you're making a joke about your... own death...?]
a_sin_for_him: (seriously what the hell)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I should hope not.

[They had had a rather important conversation regarding not doing that. But she's grasped that it really doesn't matter. There are no defenses against some things.]

[As Eliot continues, Lust's eyes widen in shock and horror. Compared to her own transition to this state of existence, what he went through sounds absolutely brutal. And...a touch surprising. She's rather personality acquainted with just how strong Eliot is, and the control he has over his own body.]

....what in god's good name happened? Who's running about gutting people with shovels?
hitsitoff: (054)

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, uh... 'Bout that.

[Oh boy, this is a conversation they need to have. She has to be filled in somehow, after all. Better she hear it from him.]

...Felix might've gotten pissed at me.

During the last trial.
a_sin_for_him: (are you sure?)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
....Felix.

[Lust raises an eyebrow, studying Eliot's face again. While she's spoken with Chane, all she had pressed the woman for was why Lust had been chosen. Chane hadn't wanted to speak, and out of gratitude for the painlessness of her own death, she'd left her alone. She's blind to the events that followed what Chane had felt was a simple, easy killing.]

[But she knows she sent a letter than named, as discretely as she could manage while still getting the point across, Chane as her murderer. Her voice goes quieter.]

And why was he angry with you? To the point that somehow it led to...that?
hitsitoff: (035)

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I might've... sorta... killed his wife.

[Yeah you know, let's just get that out of the way. Just put that right out there.]
a_sin_for_him: (seriously what the hell)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...That wasn't the answer I was expecting. You did it?

[Eliot had killed Chane. It doesn't bother her, that Eliot killed anyone, it only surprises her that it was Chane. It's...almost a pleasant surprise. She doesn't bear much ill will toward the woman, but...if she was killed, it's somewhat nice to know that Eliot had taken her out. She may be a dead and broken thing, but she has some sentimentality.]

I won't press you to talk about it, if you'd rather not, but...

Eliot, what happened?
hitsitoff: (030)

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I did.

[He wasn't gonna say that in the trial, because that's not how that works. But he never intended to lie about it. There's no more reason not to talk about it. Especially to Lust.]

Got selected as a bandit. Sheriff offered me the name of your killer, if I promised to go through with killing them.

...Figured if we had to kill, then I might as well take care of that. [Maybe it would've been better not to add to all the death. But it was gonna happen. And Lust hadn't been a bandit kill. This isn't his brand of justice anymore, but when in Rome...] Secret sorta got out during the trial and I guess Felix just couldn't wait.
a_sin_for_him: (hesitant and uncertain)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...Oh. Eliot.

[As he speaks, it's like something is gripping her heart or her guts or both. And it tightens and squeezes as he continues. He'd been put in an impossible position, and he'd used it for her sake. And died for it.]

[In apparently a terrible manner. She swallows hard, trying to focus her thoughts. She isn't sure why this is effecting her like this, but she feels miserable and touched and sad and sort of ill and warm and chilled all at once. It isn't fair. He didn't have to take that name, but he had, and now...]

[She reaches up and lays a hand against the side of his face, a pained expression on her face.]

I wasn't worth it.
hitsitoff: (43)

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-20 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wasn't she? Now there's a question.

Eliot thinks of all the things he's risked his life for, killed for. There'd been the meaningless, like money, or because one of his bosses told him to. Then there was the more meaningful. Like for his family. For people who needed protection. For his country, once, a lifetime ago.

If you had to ask him in which category what he did for Lust belonged then... well.

That's an easy one.]

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree on that point.
a_sin_for_him: (Left behind)

[personal profile] a_sin_for_him 2017-02-20 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lust doesn't know what to say.]

[She drops her hand and wraps her arms around herself, looking down. She doesn't understand. His insistence or the vast maelstrom of emotions welling in her.]

No one has ever cared...

[It's all she can manage. She'd had men pledge her all sorts of things, but because that was what was intended. She played a part, made them want her desperately. She'd never done that to Eliot, she'd been nothing but herself. And even Scar, when he'd thrown himself between her body and a barrage of bullets, had only done so because she bore the face of a woman he loved. He hadn't even wanted to know the woman she was.]

[And now she was standing in front of this man, the first person she's ever thought of as her friend in her life, listening to him assure her she was worth dying for. In the moment, Eliot strikes her as some gruff and inelegant knight in tarnished armor. It flies in the face of everything her master has raised her to believe. Lust had begun to suspect most of it was a lie anyway, but for so long she'd believed she was a soulless abomination, a mere shadow of a person, worth nothing more than a handful of chemicals. Her rational mind can't offer any argument or defense against the rest of her and she finds her eyes feel damp and her heart's beating too fast.]

I'm sorry, I...I don't know what's wrong with me.

[Only that something obviously is.]

[THIS MIGHT AS WELL HAPPEN. ADULT LIFE IS ALREADY SO GODDAMN WEIRD but yuna is a CHILD what is she supposed to DO ABOUT THIS, EVERYTHING HAPPENS SO MUCH????

what she decides on is approaching Eliot when she sees him wandering about, pausing just a short distance away, and while she's not quite 100%, Yuna Yuki's 100% is closer to other people's 1000% so she still looks surprisingly chipper for a dead girl.
]

Hi, Eliot! [wave wave!!]

[personal profile] hitsitoff 2017-02-23 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Yuna how are you still this much of a ray of sunshine what the fuck is your secret.]

...Hey, kid. [She's high up on the list of people he's pretty glad to see again.] Would've preferred never to run into you in circumstances like this. But nice to see you.
cherrypuncher: (you know to carry on)

[personal profile] cherrypuncher 2017-02-23 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
[the trick is that once you literally go to hell and you aggressively act like a ray of sunshine your whole way through that, everything else is small potatoes forever

but she's perking up even more, one way or another, seeing that he's happy to see her—mostly it's that being impaled by a shovel wasn't enough to keep him from being happy to see her??
]

It's nice to see you, too! Things could be better, but it's still not so bad here. It's comfy, and if you talk about a kind of food while you're in the dining cart, it just appears.

[it's the little things.]

[ Darts sounds fun. It will have to go on hold for now, as Claire catches one of Eliot's darts right before it hits the target. ]

Hello, Eliot Spencer.

He looks kind of annoyed, like man, he was in the middle of something here.]

Yeah. Hey.
