GRAVEYARD

So, you're dead. Shame, that.

But on the other hand, it's actually kind of nice.

When you "wake" in some odd version of it, you'll find yourself lying on a rather plush bed. It's cozy and warm and just soft enough to tempt anyone back into sleep. The room is equally nice, if small, and when you turn and open the curtains to look out the window, you will see... wait, is that the town?

It is, actually. The town is laid out quite simply across the window and no matter how many times you may bang or wave through the window, no one seems to notice you. If you're smart enough to give up the venture and leave the small bedroom, you will notice that, of course, you are on the train.

The train that, is actually pretty fancy.

Moving through it, past the sleeping cabins and through to the main carts, you will find a dining car with fine dishware and meals of all kinds made at a push of a button or a request given to the air. They'll appear, freshly made and ready to eat at the table of your choice with any drink you could want. There truly doesn't seem to be any limits when it comes to the luxury of the meal.

There is also a bathhouse car with private bathrooms and saunas to fit up to four. Even one rather large room containing a small pool/hot tub of sorts is available for just about anyone to take a dip. It's kind of outlandish, honestly.

Then the lounge car, with its library and plush armchairs and couches. A pool table, a darts board, even a small area dedicated to painting. There's a bar too, fully stocked and ready for anyone who needs a drink. All it would require is a request from the bartender who... looks surprisingly familiar?

The Sheriff is there, much cleaner cut than his counterpart outside of the train. He looks up mildly at any arrivals, giving them a nod of greeting before going back to organizing bottles or setting cigars out for a smoke. He doesn't seem to be surprised at all by anyone who appears. Just... ready to serve them, whatever they may wish.

It all sort of seems okay for a moment, until you realize you're just here to wait for the game to end. Awkward.

Yes, it's Lust. And I hardly see any social failing in asking what you're asking, all things considered.

[Lust is more than willing to share what she knows with Higekiri, when approached. They were all of them dead, it was no great secret. And at least now there would be some answers, even if they meant nothing now but a settling of the mind.]

The mute woman, Chane, poisoned me. I barely knew what was happening before I was here.

[Her own foolish mistake. But the woman had drank from the bottle first!]

It was quick and relatively painless, to her credit.

Thank you.

[ She gets a nod of appreciation. Settling of the mind is a way to put it. Even if he wants to figure things out, there isn't anything pressing him for it aside from curiosity on his part... and traces of what is concern for the living. ]

Huh I suppose! But, you are not her first victim. I overheard Nui was killed by her, as well.

[ The drugging may been the most merciful part of her death... Poor Barnham and Papika. ]

Isn't there a phrase like, "It's always the quiet ones"? I wouldn't have suspected her, honestly.

She hasn't come under any suspicion. She's well liked. Even when she lacks an alibi or her story has holes in it, there's some reason not to suspect her.

[That's irritating and impressive at once.]

God knows how many times she'll do it again...
sunnashi: (annoyances)

Humans treat those with weaknesses differently, even if they don't consciously realize it. She is mute, so she comes off as unassuming and perhaps someone to treat with more sympathy. Holes in her stories can be blamed on a barrier of communication, rather than...

[ Her actually out and about, killing people. He can agree with Lust that it's frustrating almost. He wasn't close to her, but he knows those he is close to won't likely suspect anything. ]

I wonder if she's some sort of professional, like how Ezio is an assassin.

Mmhmm. She has a built in defense.

[Now that's not something Lust had considered.]

She may be. I'd guess a number of us are and simply aren't saying as much. [A pause. It doesn't matter now.] I never mentioned it, other than to one person.

Of course... It would only lead to suspicion... Or more confusion, as it were in trial.

[ He noticed people who got past his cover-up were realizing that someone else murdered Von Karma rather skillfully. Ah, he'd rather think back to that mess. ]

But, it's probable fine to trust a person you liked with those secrets. Then you don't feel as lonely.

There's already enough confusion. And attempt to cut through emotions and offer logical suspects...

[Well, Lust has plenty of experience there. It hadn't gone well.]

I trusted him. We were...close, for my definition of the word. And you're right. I didn't feel as lonely. I...rather miss him, actually. I've never missed anyone before....
sunnashi: (oh that's a bad thing)

[personal profile] sunnashi 2017-02-17 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
...I want to say something like, you'll be able to see him again. But, I suppose it's better to be alive for that.

[ Rather than essentially be wishing death on them. ]

I miss some of the others too.

No, in this case, I'd prefer I didn't see him again. Funny, isn't it? You always hear about how much the living miss the dead. Who knew it goes both ways?

[Well, she supposes she ought to have realized that. She'd been a dead thing for fourteen years.]

I wish there was more we could do, from here.

[It's a different sort of helplessness.]
