GRAVEYARD

So, you're dead. Shame, that.

But on the other hand, it's actually kind of nice.

When you "wake" in some odd version of it, you'll find yourself lying on a rather plush bed. It's cozy and warm and just soft enough to tempt anyone back into sleep. The room is equally nice, if small, and when you turn and open the curtains to look out the window, you will see... wait, is that the town?

It is, actually. The town is laid out quite simply across the window and no matter how many times you may bang or wave through the window, no one seems to notice you. If you're smart enough to give up the venture and leave the small bedroom, you will notice that, of course, you are on the train.

The train that, is actually pretty fancy.

Moving through it, past the sleeping cabins and through to the main carts, you will find a dining car with fine dishware and meals of all kinds made at a push of a button or a request given to the air. They'll appear, freshly made and ready to eat at the table of your choice with any drink you could want. There truly doesn't seem to be any limits when it comes to the luxury of the meal.

There is also a bathhouse car with private bathrooms and saunas to fit up to four. Even one rather large room containing a small pool/hot tub of sorts is available for just about anyone to take a dip. It's kind of outlandish, honestly.

Then the lounge car, with its library and plush armchairs and couches. A pool table, a darts board, even a small area dedicated to painting. There's a bar too, fully stocked and ready for anyone who needs a drink. All it would require is a request from the bartender who... looks surprisingly familiar?

The Sheriff is there, much cleaner cut than his counterpart outside of the train. He looks up mildly at any arrivals, giving them a nod of greeting before going back to organizing bottles or setting cigars out for a smoke. He doesn't seem to be surprised at all by anyone who appears. Just... ready to serve them, whatever they may wish.

It all sort of seems okay for a moment, until you realize you're just here to wait for the game to end. Awkward.

...Let's try to figure out what's going on? I hope you guys don't mind talking about your final moments or roles if you had them, but we can also ask Hal the identities of who murdered you. Maybe we can figure out who's who, that might be fun. I'm a little bored.

[ On a luxury suite-train-thing, only him. But he has a large sheet of paper and some pens in different colors. ]

My role I gave away, but I was a Bandit along with Ezio. These are chosen every week to ensure a kill happens every week, even if no one else talks to Hal about it to kill of their own volition.

If both of us turn down killing or "participating", we'd be killed for breaking the rules. We were told there's a role for that.

If only one of us participates by killing and the other lets them be executed, meaning they do not participate, then no one is rewarded, so it's better for us both to participate, or else there's just meaningless deaths.

So, the idea is that one kills, the other helps them get way with it, by covering it up or swaying suspicion from the killer during the trial in order for us both to be rewarded.

[ Yeah... That's why he went there during the trial. ]

Ah... I couldn't say it because of the rules, but Ezio ended up blackmailed because he refused quite adamantly at first. So his "reward" was to not have his loved ones wiped from existence.

So that's why the Sheriff was so sure a murder is always going to happen.

[It's not a pretty game, that's for sure. So, thinking about the third week...]

Is it possible for both Bandits to decide to kill different people instead of covering up for each other?

[ That week sure was a Thing. ]

I believe only one of us could murder for it to count as a bandit, as we choose who kills between the two of us and they tell the sheriff who theire planned victim would be. Originally, i wasn't supposed to know who Ezio would kill. It could've been me.

But, that bandit could murder more than one person if need be, I'd assume. For example, Jason might have been very lucky thanks to Yuna and Milla, since he would been a witness. Not that Ezio enjoys senseless killing, but he could have killed Jason in such a vulnerable situation for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I realized that in spite of the cruelty, the sheriff encourages a... system of fairness with trials. He was very upset I would not let you find the true culprit by pushing you and the others to execute me. So that may be why, as it should rare for a tie in voting. To have two killer bandits with other factors and roles for killing would make things... unpleasant and unfair.

[ Little hand gesture at Tarvek here. Him and Nisha got really unlucky. ]

[You don't have to remind him. Really unlucky]

What other roles are there, anyway? Do the Bandits know anything about them?
sunnashi: (annoyances)

I believe Nisha's role is coal miner, and her job is to eliminate rule-breakers and those who do not "participate". Her role was implied to us and not explicitly stated.

Hal also just told me about a deputy and a bounty leader. When one is killed, the other "wins" the game.

Sure. If you want to know. I had a nice little showdown with Nisha, and this is where I ended up.

I was a "bounty".

Do you know why the Sheriff wanted to get rid of you?

[For being a bounty? Was the Bounty whatever he had just heard around involved in that?]

He didn't say much aside from goodbyes.
sunnashi: (how does it go)

What does the role of a bounty entail?

There's a role known as a bounty leader, but I wasn't given specifics.
