buries my face in my hands. but also drops all 10 percy jackson books on you because I'm not sorry. one book for each day I'm late, yay!!!

okay god where do I even start with jason and percy. HOW do I even start with jason and percy omg, it's amazing that I can't even really think about HOW they started to become friends? it's like one day they were just two dudes being idiots and kind of feeling each other out and the next he decided he was adopting jason todd and vice versa

okay. how does this go. jason todd, as I've told you, reminds percy a lot of nico di angelo and now that you're reading the books you'll understand exactly what I mean. he recognizes that despite jason's smartass remarks and jason being the way jason is, there's someone there that really just wants recognition and guidance and percy was totally fine supplying it even when he didn't know that's what was going on. a lot of his knowledge about jason came from damian first, but natalie also helped bring them together. he's always liked jason and he's always been a little concerned about him, but he's also always been able to consider him a friend even if the levels of friendship changed over the course of the game

the real turning point of their friendship I think was when they both realized they were two of the only people to know about damian. they were also (seemingly) the only two members of the bounty party not to have a role (and he still feels bad about lying about that.) he knew that jason wanted to keep damian as safe and protected as he did, but he was also aware that jason wasn't watching out for himself and he recognized that self-destructive behavior and it wasn't good. he didn't want that for jason. jason is another person he felt deserved something better and deserved someone looking out for him not so much as an older brother but as a friend. the lines blurred a lot for percy but after a while he didn't care

it also says a lot about how much percy respects jason for letting him see him in his most vulnerable states after annabeth's death and after harry's execution. having someone to watch his back was a huge relief and he never thought to hesitate to offer the same to jason especially after natalie's death. the worst was knowing that jason was going to die and having to wait it out and watch him sink further and further into himself. he wanted to be hopeful, and that was about when he felt that bringing up manhattan was a good idea. he wanted to give jason something to hope for, something that wasn't a doom and gloom ending even after the game was over. he wanted better for him.

basically, it's stupid how much he cares about jason's well-being and mental state and he would sacrifice himself to make sure he got a better chance this time around. a hero deserves better.

in the end, he and jason had a good understanding and he knows he never has to worry about if jason will be loyal to him or vice versa. he knows the next chapter of jason's life is going to be a huge adjustment but he's ready to be there every step of the way as long as jason will let him
