SHE WILL MISS HIM TOO

For real, I will

never forgive

for the undeniable crime of you making me emotionally attached to HANNIBAL FUCKING LECTER

But for real, their CR was great and I treasured every thread. Chane was glad to have him as an ally and trusted him as much as the situation would allow. When he opened up to her about being the deputy and called her his friend, she was happy. I will say that it's a good thing she never found out about the cannibalism! Him eating people is like "weird... but whatever..." but if she knew about the Riku sandwich and the Ana and/or Sei dinner? SOCIAL LINK REVERSED, BACK DOWN TO ZERO.

I think I only mentioned this ICly, but Hannibal reminded her a lot of her father. So there was an interesting dichotomy there: it was easy to get attached to him because of it, but it was also easy to remember that she ought to keep her wits about her and not over emphasize her own relevance. Her father denied her immortality because of scientific procedure, after all. As long as Chane makes the comparison between the two, she'll always be wondering when Hannibal's immediate interests will no longer coincide with her own and what will come of that. She's not relishing the day it happens, no, but she is somewhat prepared for the possibility. Fortunately, we never reached that point in their CR!

Nor did she regret going their separate ways, ultimately. A particular comment of Hannibal's in their last thread, We do not live with regret. At least, not any longer. We had fought a great Dragon, and triumphant, stood by the sea as we died from what injuries it had wrought. Will pulled us together, off the cliff, and to the sea. So we are dead men. They cannot live with regret. And in our case, we also cannot live apart, was just fifty degrees of wHAT THE SHIT MAN and the point where Chane was beginning to think that she already has one super intense, fanciful weirdo in her life (and she even married him) ... she doesn't really need two.

That said, she does miss him! Him and Will, both. It's probably best the encounter was only what it was, before familiarity could breed contempt and she'd start to rethink having them in her life. As it is, her time with Hannibal will always be a pleasant memory.

She probably writes him letters, as per endgame opportunities, entirely in French, and will continue to do so for most of her life.
