okay this is gonna be the most backwards explanation for how and why this happened.
First off, I play a stupid, playing a stupid immune to Shinnosuke was a funny idea to me. Then later on... I said okay to Higekiri being a bandit! Things happened and he was ready to die? He tried to game the bandit game even if it meant dying because there's nothing about that and god, he went from 0-100 and it's like, sure ThisIsFine.png. (i apologize to all of the future bandits). But Shinnosuke was pretty nice to him before he died and he clung to it because Wow they shared something in common? Like how did that happen but HE REALLY LIKED SHINNOSUKE STILL. Also in stupid bread fashion he decided tossing letters at him would be the best idea to show he cared. Even if it killed Shinnosuke on the inside.
I've actually played Imanotsurugi for longer, and I'm more familiar with his side of things as far as ridiculous fanon/Genji family soap opera history relationships go. It's a... triangle. Imanotsurugi loves Hizamaru (same master and Hizamaru is based off of said master Yoshitsune), Hizamaru loves Higekiri (Yoshitsune adored his brother Yoritomo, who's Higekiri's master)... and no one can decide how Higekiri feels about Ima (canonically Higekiri doesn't care about the Genji family drama and says as such) but Ima has like 1000 reasons historically to dislike Higekiri (Yoritomo hit the fucking betray button and forced Yoshitsune to commit suicide fwiw). I just went with Higekiri being aware and seemingly not caring because uh... there's a thing to justify this stupid vagueness, fuck this canon where it counts. But I played the oblivious "bad guy" because why not... he can totally die and it's cool.
This goes back to Higekiri being teetering on that fine line of obliviousness/no fucks given for anything serious, he's sheltered but also the old sword of a... bad guy. That is how this friendship(?) happened. But he never stopped insisting the idea the tsun edgelord was good in his head... Also Hizamaru is similar and can be rude to anyone who isn't Higekiri so it's fun to be on the other side. So yes, there was logic to trying, maybe. THANKS YUNA AND XION.
